Paid His Dues

After about 4 years of guiding hunts on the El Tecomate, Steve finally got to shoot one of his own. The good news is, we didn't have to pay for it. It scored 142, which was more than Steve and Ryan initially thought it would be. Ryan is one of Steve's best friends and he manages the Tecomate.
The Tecomate is a ranch that is just right across the highway from my family's ranch, "Dos Condados," which means Two Counties because our ranch lies in Starr and Jim Hogg counties. The gate is right on the county line.



Other news isn't very exciting: Pike is either cutting molars or becoming a "terrible two" overnight. We can't figure him out lately and are struggling to find answers - if there are any.

I haven't posted it on the blog, cause it's kind-of a downer, but I have one grandpa in the hospital after having a triple bypass and valve replacement and the other grandpa had a stroke in mid-December and is in a nursing home now. We are hoping to bring him home soon, although he will never totally recover. It has been a very stressful time for my family dealing with all these health issues with my grandparents. I guess that's what happens when you are blessed to have longevity in your genes.
